Working out




Once upon a time the majority of my time was 90% me time. Those moments are few and far in between these days.  I think because I had kids in my late thirties and that I was so used  to being able to do whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted, for so long I  was quite spoiled. I miss my days of gaming especially. I would get lost for hours playing World of Warcraft. Yes, I'm one of those girls. Me time is so important. I HAVE to have it as I've learned it's what helps me cope with my day to day craziness. If I don't decompress, I will eventually implode and no one wants that. The clean up is too messy.  Life has a tendency to whirl you into its wicked web of craziness, especially when you have kids!
I am more of an introvert so I tend to enjoy getting lost in my own world when I do have some time to myself. Since gaming is out of the question currently, reading a book or binging on Netflix shows are two of my favorite ways to spend time with myself since most of my alone time is in the evening when the kids go to bed. However I have a new passion that I look forward to when I get moments to myself and that is working out. Going to my strength training classes and yoga classes are at the top of my list these days and it feels good! My mind totally becomes focused on the task at hand and afterwards there is a feeling of accomplishment and inner strength. Bonus – I have more energy to keep up with my 4 and 6 year old! I admit, I am totally addicted.
The most important thing to remember is that if we, as women, do not take care of ourselves physically and mentally, we are of no good to our families and friends! Burn-out does no one favors so do yourself a good one and set aside time for YOU. What are you going to do to take care of yourself in your me time?
