Fall and Ice Cream?

Fall is definitely my favorite season. The colors, smells , holidays and weather are amazing.  I love it so much that I planned our wedding for October.  I was hoping for the beautiful orange and red leaves in the background of our photos. That didn't really work out.  We ended up having a really crazy summer and the trees had very few leaves.  Joys of the unpredictable weather of the Midwest.  I still had my fall color.  Bridesmaids wore charcoal grey and had orange bouquets of daisy and mums.

As a camper, fall in this best time to camp.  The weather is still a bit warm but chilly at night.  Perfect for sitting around the campfire in the evenings with friends.  One of my favorite places to go to camp and hike is the Red River Gorge.  It is part of KY’s Daniel Boone National Park and about 3 hours from home.  Most of the hikes are to amazing views of the gorge and river.  Perfect place to see the fall colors.  If you plan a trip any time soon make sure Cloud Splitter is on your list of trails.  It is a challenge to find but so worth the journey!

The 2nd best reason I love fall is pumpkin everything!!!!! Yes I am one of those people that get really excited when Starbucks’s pumpkin spice is in season. And yes I have like 25 different pumpkin candles.  And yes I will try pumpkin anything!!!!  I used to love love love Rivertown’s Pumpkin Ale.  I guess I still do love it but I am now gluten free diet (made a world of difference with my Hashimoto’s) so I haven’t had one in years.  I have gotten my husband to brew a gluten free pumpkin beer for me one.  One day I will have it again.  So for now I am stuck indulging in Pumpkin Spice coffee and ice cream.  Yes, Ice cream.  If you find it, buy it.  It is amazing!  I like Home Made best!

One last reason to love fall is it really helps you to appreciate other season.  Living in the Midwest I get the joy of experiencing all 4 season, sometimes in the same day.  It is amazing the way that winter’s snow makes you appreciate spring’s blooms and summer’s heat makes you appreciate fall’s cool nights.  I couldn’t imagine living without the 4 season!
